How to pick a giveaway winner from comments
- Copy the comments from your post and paste them into the list, one per line, written as
account: comment text. A plain list of account names works as well. - Set your rules: the number of winners, runners-up, a minimum number of tagged friends per comment, and any accounts to exclude, such as your own.
- Press Draw winners. The tool counts comments and accounts, applies your rules and draws.
- Copy the draw record, with the time, the number of eligible accounts and the method, into your story or a pinned comment.
What the rules do
Every account counts once, however many times it commented, so people cannot raise their chances by posting again. Names are compared without regard to capital letters. Tags are words that start with @ inside the comment text; your own account and repeated tags are not counted twice. With a minimum of two, a comment needs two different tagged friends to be eligible. Excluded accounts, for example your own or a partner brand, are never drawn. The participant list shows who was left out and why.
Runners-up are drawn together with the winners, in order. If a winner does not answer, move on to runner-up 1.
Is the draw fair and verifiable?
The winners are drawn without repeats from the eligible accounts using crypto.getRandomValues and a Fisher-Yates selection, so each eligible account has the same chance. Nobody, including us, can steer the result, because the draw runs only in your browser. The record lists the date, the number of comments and eligible accounts, and the method. For extra trust, run the draw live in a story or video call, or read out the list before pressing the button.
